A 1956 Porsche 356A 1500 GS T1 Carrera Cabriolet, chassis 61163, is among the rarest of early 356 variants — one of only 26 built with the T1 body and Carrera engine in open cabriolet form. Delivered new in Azure Blue to German nobleman Prinz Friedrich zu Furstenberg, who competed in period motorsport, the car subsequently changed hands multiple times in Germany and the United States before undergoing a full restoration in 1993–1994. It was repatriated to Europe in 2012 and restored again by Dutch Porsche specialists, returning it to its original colour.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
