Historic Motorsport · Provenance Intelligence

Every chassis has a story to tell.

Legacy Metrics is the definitive provenance record for historic and collector motorsport vehicles — bringing together ownership chain, competition history, and mechanical record into a single verified Vehicle Passport, trusted by owners, workshops, insurers, and auction houses.

The Provenance of Record. Every vehicle’s history treated with the forensic precision of a national archive — verified, permanent, and trusted.

The Ecosystem

One platform. Every stakeholder.

Legacy Metrics sits at the centre of the historic motorsport world. Every party interacts with the platform differently — but all benefit from the same trusted, verified record.

The key principle: every stakeholder works from the same record, but sees only what they are permitted to see. Public history is open to all. Once a chassis is registered, all further entries are private to the owner and their authorised workshop. Third-party access requires explicit owner consent.

Ownership

Registering your chassis

Any chassis in the Legacy Metrics database can be searched publicly. Registering it links your identity to the record and unlocks your full Vehicle Passport.

01

Search the Registry

02

Register Ownership

Upload a document showing both your name and the chassis number. Accepted documents include:

V5C registration certificate
Insurance certificate
Purchase invoice or bill of sale
FIA / MSA identity document
Period competition entry form
Solicitor’s letter (estate / inheritance)
03

Manual verification

Every document is reviewed by a member of the Legacy Metrics team, by hand. Once approved, your chassis is linked to your account and your Vehicle Passport is unlocked. All further entries become private from this point.

Data Model

Public history. Private record.

Historic public record — chassis identity, known competition history, period ownership — is visible to anyone. Everything added after registration is private to the owner.

Workshops

Authorise your workshop. Upload. Done.

Owners can authorise their workshop or race preparer to contribute directly to the vehicle record. Simply search for your workshop from within your account, send an authorisation, and they gain access limited strictly to the vehicles you specify — revocable at any time.

The workshop uploads their invoice, report, or race entry — nothing more. Our document intelligence engine reads each file, extracts the key information, and adds a plain-English summary to the passport automatically. Every entry is timestamped, attributed, and stored in full. You can review, approve, or remove any contribution at any time.

Benefits

What Legacy Metrics means for you

Record

Your car's story, preserved

A permanent, structured record of everything that has happened to your vehicle — held securely and accessible whenever you need it, for however long you own the car.

Valuation

Evidence at point of sale

A verified Legacy Metrics passport gives buyers certainty. At the values historic racing cars command, documented provenance directly supports the asking price.

Insurance

Accurate, defensible coverage

Share your vehicle's scored record with your insurer to support accurate valuation — grounded in verified evidence, not owner estimate.

Revenue

A new service line

Offer Legacy Metrics passport creation and maintenance as part of your service. A tangible, valued addition — and a meaningful differentiator in a competitive market.

Legacy

Your work, on the record

Every service, rebuild, or preparation is formally logged against the vehicle — with your workshop named. Your craftsmanship becomes part of the car’s permanent history.

Relationships

Custodian, not just mechanic

Helping a client build a verified record positions your workshop as custodian of their car's story — a relationship that extends well beyond any individual job.

Intelligence

Vehicle-level data

Move beyond aggregate market valuations. Every passport provides vehicle-specific provenance — ownership chain, competition history, condition record — structured and scored.

Risk

Scored, not estimated

A Provenance Score and Risk Score for every vehicle — generated from verified data, not owner declaration. Comparable across policies and updatable at renewal.

Renewal

A live, improving record

As data is added over time, the vehicle's risk profile sharpens. Each renewal cycle is grounded in more evidence than the last — reducing exposure for insurer and client alike.

Due Diligence

Verified before catalogue

A structured, independently verified provenance record reduces the time and cost of due diligence on consigned vehicles — and supports catalogue accuracy from the outset.

Results

Confidence drives bids

Lots with a verified Legacy Metrics record carry a clear provenance signal. Documented history reduces buyer hesitation and supports stronger hammer prices.

Integrity

Independent, not vendor-assembled

The record is not prepared by the seller. It is built from verified documents and third-party contributions — making it a meaningful, independent endorsement of a vehicle's history.

Security

Your record is protected.

The vehicles on this platform are among the most valuable in private hands. Database security is a founding requirement — not an afterthought.

Encrypted at rest and in transit

All data — records, documents, personal information — is encrypted using industry-standard protocols in both storage and transmission.

Strict access control

Each user sees only their own data. Workshop permissions are owner-controlled and granular. No user can access another owner’s private record.

No sharing without consent

Private records are never shared with any third party without the explicit, revocable consent of the vehicle owner. Consent is logged and timestamped.

Not in the database?

Request a chassis record.

The Legacy Metrics database is comprehensive but not yet complete. If your chassis number does not appear in a search, submit a request and we will research and build a founding record for your vehicle.

Step 01

Search returns no result

If your chassis number does not appear in the predictive search, a prompt will invite you to submit a Request. No account required.

Step 02

Submit what you have

Provide the chassis number, make, model and year.

Step 03

We build the record

Our team researches the vehicle using available archives and constructs a founding record. Once ready, you follow the standard ownership verification process to register it.

Can’t find your chassis?

Submit a request and we’ll research and build a founding record for your vehicle.

If you’d like to know more, I’d love to hear from you personally.
