Maintenance & restoration

  1. Restoration

Complete strip-down and bare-metal rebuild costing over £40,000. The shell was fully seam-welded with a reinforced floor to accept a roll cage; the underside was bead-blasted and all surfaces repainted and baked. New Ford-specification steel wings, door shut panels, re-skinned doors, and rear panels were fitted, along with a new window kit and laminated windscreen.

Documented by a comprehensive bill and photographic history file.

  2. Engine rebuild
    DAMICO

A DAMICO-built 1,200cc engine constructed to strict FIA specification was fitted; all components are new and balanced, with the block and head extensively machined and a purposely selected camshaft for tractable power delivery. Currently limited to 7,500rpm but capable of over 8,500rpm; output is approximately 130bhp.

Mated to a close-ratio gearbox and racing clutch with new bearings and seals.

  3. Mechanical
    Alan Dent

Suspension geometry modified within FIA regulations and corner-weighted. Full braking system replaced including new bearings, seals, flexible brake lines, new dampers all round, and FIA-compliant front disc brakes. A 12-gallon foam-filled fuel tank installed to allow endurance events.

A 105-decibel exhaust system was also designed and fitted by Alan Dent to meet track noise limits.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
