1957 Dual Ghia Convertible

191roadUnited States
Engine
5.2L OHV V8, 230 bhp, four-barrel carburetor
Colour
Eggplant (dark purple)

Chassis 191 is a notably fin-less example of the rare Dual-Ghia convertible, one of roughly 100 hand-built automobiles produced between 1956 and 1958 by Eugene Casaroll's Dual Motors, combining a Dodge V-8 drivetrain with coachwork by Ghia of Turin. The absence of tailfins, a characteristic shared with only a small number of the final production cars, gives this example a distinctly modern silhouette. It was once owned by Canadian musician Rick Danko of The Band, who bought it for his wife in Woodstock, New York, and subsequently passed through several American and Canadian hands before receiving a documented restoration in its original Eggplant colour.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
