1976 Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Stradale Saloon

2049112roadItaly

The Fiat 131 Abarth Stradale is one of only 400 road-going homologation specials produced to satisfy FIA Group 4 regulations, enabling Fiat to contest — and win — the World Rally Championship in 1977, 1978, and 1980. Developed with Abarth and Bertone, it features a twin-cam 16-valve two-litre engine, independent rear suspension, fibreglass bonnet, aluminium doors, and period Cromodora wheels. This example was sourced in Italy in 2005 at approximately 11,000 km and has since been lightly used, retaining an exceptional degree of originality.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. 2005
    Engine rebuild

Full engine rebuild carried out after delivery, prompted by concerns about the intake system and missing air filters. Genuine Abarth pistons were used throughout; the twin IDF Weber carburettors, believed to be an original factory fitment, were retained.

Rebuild was undertaken for reassurance rather than to address a known failure; all replacement components were period-correct.

  2. Service

Recent service carried out including replacement of the cambelt.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
