The 17th of 25 factory-built pre-production 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28s, this matching-numbers coupe was originally delivered to Heinrich Chevrolet in Rochester, New York, and campaigned by driver Gary Morgan in SCCA Trans-Am competition from 1967 to 1969, recording 11 victories and 2 runner-up finishes. It subsequently appeared in Gulf Oil television commercials broadcast during moon-landing coverage, and is believed to be the sole surviving pre-production Z/28 retaining its original engine. Authenticated by historian Jerry MacNeish, the car was later restored in Bolero Red with Ermine White stripes and Gulf Oil livery, and has participated in modern historic racing including the 2015 Spa Classic.
