Engine

Completed on 9 February 1965 in Porsche's experimental division rather than on the standard production line, chassis 300474 holds the distinction of being the first right-hand drive 911 built, delivered to, and registered in the United Kingdom. Documented by a factory Kardex as a prototype for testing, it was brought to Britain by Peter Bulbeck — later managing director of Porsche Cars Great Britain — for use by AFN Ltd as a demonstrator. The car retains its matching numbers, original Bali Blue paintwork, wood-rim steering wheel, and teak dashboard, and won its class at the 2003 Goodwood Festival of Speed Cartier Style et Luxe concours.

  1. 1997
    Restoration

Following acquisition, the current owner carried out a comprehensive refurbishment, replacing any non-original components with correct period items and reinstating the original seats.

Owner also removed a later rear window wiper and Recaro seats that a previous custodian had fitted.

  2. Modification

Original Solex carburettors replaced with Weber units, a change attributed to then-owner Clive Ward-Miller, a noted Porsche mechanic. The original Solexes were retained and are included in the sale.

Weber carburettors became standard factory equipment from March 1966; this swap is believed to have occurred early in the car's life.

  3. Bodywork

Exterior repainted on more than one occasion, each time in the correct original colour, Bali Blue (1964 paint code 6412).

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
