Engine
BMW 328 inline-six with Bristol cylinder head

Chassis 74308 is a BMW 327/28 Sports Cabriolet, one of just 569 built before production ceased in 1940, combining the elegant 327 body with the more potent 328 engine for a 140 km/h top speed. Delivered new through the Danish importer to a buyer in Aalborg in April 1939, it later passed to amateur racer Peter Morgens Skarring, who campaigned it in several notable early-1950s events including the inaugural Svenska Rallyt till Midnattssolen — the forerunner of Rally Sweden. Following decades of changing hands, a workshop fire, and an incomplete restoration, the car was eventually brought to completion under the supervision of BMW 328 specialist Yngve Falk, with additional mechanical work by TT Workshop in the UK.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
