1966 Ferrari 500 Superfast Series II

8459 SFroadItaly
Engine
5.0L V12 Colombo-derived, 395 hp
Colour
Light blue ('Blu Chiaro') over natural leather

The Ferrari 500 Superfast was among the rarest and most exclusive grand tourers of its era, with only 37 examples constructed between 1964 and 1966. Chassis 8459 SF, the 33rd produced and one of just eight right-hand-drive Series II cars, was delivered in April 1966 through Maranello Concessionaires to London stockbroker Jack Durlacher — himself connected to Rob Walker's celebrated racing operation. Powered by a five-litre Colombo V-12 producing 395 hp and fitted with unusual factory specifications including front-fender air ducts and no rear seats, the car was restored in 1981 in its original Blu Chiaro over Naturale leather and spent several decades in English ownership.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
