1973 Chevron B25 F2

B25/73/7racingUnited Kingdom

Chevron B25 chassis B25/73/7 was constructed at the factory in 1973 as a works Formula 2 entry, powered by a Ford-backed Brian Hart engine and driven by Peter Gethin and John Watson in that year's European F2 Championship. Factory support was curtailed following a fatal accident in the companion car, after which the car was campaigned more modestly before passing to hillclimb competitors Reg Phillips and John Stewart. Following a heavy accident and years of obscurity, the tub was rediscovered in the early 1990s and eventually acquired by Simon Hadfield Motorsport, who began a full restoration. The current owner completed this work and has used the car in several historic events, most recently finishing second at the 2021 Oulton Park Gold Cup. It holds FIA HTP papers valid to 2033.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
