Delivered in 1957 and raced under several notable drivers including Richie Ginther at Le Mans and Gaston Andrey at Sebring, it accumulated multiple SCCA class victories and two E-Modified championships in 1958 and 1959. After passing through documented American and European ownership, the car was eventually reunited with its original matching-numbers engine and retains an older restoration.

During use at a racing school by Henry Hironaka, the original 2-liter engine (0706 MDTR) dropped a valve and was removed from the chassis. Occurred in the early 1960s.

  6. Modification

A Ford 289 V-8 engine was temporarily installed to keep the car operational after the original Ferrari unit was removed. Occurred sometime in the 1960s or later.

  7. Modification

The Ford engine was subsequently removed and a replacement 2-liter Ferrari engine stamped 0582 LM was fitted.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
