Chassis 613015 is among the earliest Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 1600s built, the fifteenth car off the Settimo Milanese line in 1965 and one of six Autodelta-prepared competition examples in that initial batch. Delivered to Belgian racing driver Lucien Bianchi's team in early 1966, it was campaigned across domestic and European Touring Car Championships with notable drivers including Yvette Fontaine and Christine Beckers. The car also carries structural evidence of conversion to the rare twin-supercharged GTA-SA specification. Comprehensively restored in the 1990s to original 1965 configuration, it is presented in Team Lucien Bianchi livery.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Modification

Car was adapted to accept a twin-supercharged GTA-SA specification engine, evidenced by an inspection hatch cut into the right-hand inner wheel arch.

Modification believed to have occurred during the Bianchi team ownership period, consistent with GTA-SA conversions undertaken from standard 1600 GTA chassis.

  2. Modification

Engine replaced with a 2000 GTAm unit and wheel arches widened to match, carried out during Belgian private ownership.

These changes were made prior to the consignor's acquisition of the car in 1984 and were reversed during the subsequent restoration.

  3. Restoration

Full restoration to original 1965 specification undertaken in the 1990s. Work included fitting a period-correct GTA 1600 engine with magnesium electron sump and cam cover, correct twin-spark distributor, Autodelta airbox and inlet manifold, Weber 45 DCOE14 carburettors, original-type gearbox with magnesium bellhousing, and correct ancillaries including exhaust, radiator, oil cooler, and rear axle. Cosmetically, narrow wheel arches were reinstated, along with Autodelta sports seats, a GTA 1600 dashboard, and a wooden-rimmed Hellebore steering wheel. Period 7-inch, 14-inch Campagnolo wheels were also fitted.

Restoration was commissioned by the consignor with the explicit aim of returning the car to its original delivery configuration.
