1977 Ferrari 308 GTS

Colour
'Rosso Dino' (dark red)

Ferrari 308 GTS chassis 21371 is the second example of the model ever built, originally employed by the factory for development work before being photographed for the official 308 GTS sales brochure. Finished in the uncommon Rosso Dino shade and fitted with a heavy-duty clutch borrowed from the 512 BB, the car was presented by Ferrari to Formula 1 driver Gilles Villeneuve on 30 October 1978 for his personal use, serving as his daily transport between Monaco and Maranello. Following Villeneuve's death at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, Ferrari retained the car until 1984, after which it passed through private Italian ownership before being acquired by a Danish collector in 2010 and subsequently exhibited at the Museo Ferrari in Maranello.

The car also received the unusual Rosso Dino colour finish during its factory period.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
