3.5L V8

A 1973–1976 MG B GT V8, one of the factory-built variants fitted with the lightweight 3,528cc Rover all-alloy V8, this example has undergone a thorough professional restoration combining period-correct appearance with significantly enhanced performance. The body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in Tahiti Blue, while the engine was rebuilt by CAS Engineering to produce approximately 200bhp through cylinder-head, piston, and camshaft upgrades. Uprated and polybushed suspension and a bolt-in roll-cage were also fitted during the rebuild.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Restoration

Complete strip-down and rebuild to the owner's exacting standard: body taken to bare metal, imperfect panels replaced, and the car refinished in Tahiti Blue to a high-quality finish.

Carried out after the current owner's 2019 purchase; aimed at combining factory-original appearance with enhanced performance.

  2. Engine rebuild
    CAS Engineering

Rover V8 rebuilt with large-valve cylinder head, high-compression pistons, and a high-lift camshaft, raising output to approximately 200bhp with substantially increased torque.

Work was carried out concurrently with the body restoration.

  3. Mechanical

Full suspension replacement with uprated components, all fitted with polyurethane bushes, geometry set using an MGOC Panhard rod kit; a Safety Devices bolt-in roll-cage was also installed.

Completed as part of the same rebuild programme.

  4. Maintenance

A set of chrome Minilite alloy wheels was refurbished and fitted with a new set of Toyo tyres.

These wheels accompany the car along with a collection of original spare parts.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
