Allard J2X chassis 3062 is one of 83 examples built between 1951 and 1953, completed in June 1952 and shipped to New York without an engine for its first owner to supply a Chrysler Hemi. After decades of regular use in Southern California and Hawaii under a single long-term custodian, the car received a professional restoration in 2010 featuring a purpose-built Cadillac 331 V-8 with six Stromberg carburetors. All original body panels and most running gear are said to be retained.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. 2010Restoration
    Limeworks Speed Shop

Full professional restoration completed by Limeworks Speed Shop. A Cadillac 331 cu. in. V-8 was built with forged pistons, custom-ground cams, and six Stromberg 97 carburetors producing at least 255 rear-wheel horsepower, mated to a Lincoln-Zephyr gearbox. Original body panels and remaining running gear were retained; bodywork finished in red with leather interior and Brooklands screens.

Restoration carried out by Steve Dennish. All original body panels reportedly preserved.

  2. Restoration

Two informal, owner-executed restorations carried out during Alan Beall's tenure; both were self-described as non-professional in scope.

Reported by Beall to the Allard Register late in his ownership.

  3. Maintenance

Interior retrimmed in tan leather and correct period gauges fitted to replace earlier instrumentation.

Work carried out during the Southern California collector's ownership, prior to acquisition by the Muckel Collection.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
