Work included a custom-built 2,007-cc four-cylinder engine styled to resemble the factory unit, a rebuilt four-speed manual gearbox with upgraded gear ratios, blast-cleaned and powder-coated seat frames, and a period-correct interior retrim.

    Interior upholstery carried out by West Coast Classics of Los Angeles, a specialist in vintage VW interiors. Multiple additional specialists were engaged to meet the highest possible standard.
