Maintenance & restoration

  1. Modification

Original chrome wire wheels swapped for disc wheels at the first owner's request.

Carried out during Harry Ingham's ownership period.

  2. Restoration
    Morgan West

Full nut-and-bolt restoration of the completely original car arranged following its acquisition from Norway, encompassing both mechanical and cosmetic work.

Commissioned by Bob Cole; Dennis Glavis of Morgan West arranged the restoration programme.

  3. Bodywork

The fibreglass body was detached from the steel frame, fully stripped, and refinished. Original black paintwork was replaced with a two-tone British Racing Green and pale yellow scheme, and the interior retrimmed in honey-coloured ostrich hide in place of the original red leather.

Carried out by Morgan expert Pierre Brun; body number 178/026 confirmed on the unit.

  4. Engine rebuild

The Triumph TR4 block and crankshaft were blueprinted; Carrillo connecting rods, JE pistons, and an Elgin camshaft were fitted, with the cylinder head ported and polished. Twin Weber 45DCOE carburettors, an extractor manifold, and a finned aluminium sump were added, bringing output to an estimated 170–180 bhp.

Work performed by Pierre Brun, who had previously prepared SCCA National Championship-winning Morgan Super Sports roadsters for Lew Spencer.

  5. Mechanical

The Moss gearbox and rear axle were rebuilt; the sliding-pillar front suspension and Armstrong dampers were refurbished. A Panhard rod was added to the rear axle, and wire wheels fitted to the hubs. Interior instrumentation updated to a full Smiths gauge set including a Derrington steering wheel.

All work carried out by Pierre Brun as part of the same restoration programme.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
