A very early example of the landmark 1967 Porsche 911 S, this coupe was built on 12 September 1966 and delivered new to a Düsseldorf hardware supplier. Factory-optioned with a medium blue leather interior and several special-order features, it spent decades in the dry Southwest United States before a comprehensive, fully documented nut-and-bolt restoration was carried out by California-based specialists CarParcUSA in 2011. The car retains its numbers-matching engine and gearbox and is accompanied by an extensive documentation archive stretching back to 1970.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. 1972
    Modification

The original 4.5-inch Fuchs alloy wheels were replaced with a matching set of 6-by-15-inch 'Deep Six' Fuchs lightweight alloy wheels, as documented by a surviving receipt.

Carried out during Dr. Gilmore's ownership; receipt is part of the accompanying documentation.

  2. 2011Restoration
    CarParcUSA

Full nut-and-bolt restoration by CarParcUSA over several months: the car was completely disassembled and documented, the numbers-matching engine and gearbox were rebuilt to factory specification with new pistons, rings, bearings, timing chains, valves, seals, and pipework, suspension was fully rebuilt, a stainless steel exhaust was fitted, braking system was updated, and a twin-plug ignition with electronic distributor was installed. The entire process was photographically and documentarily recorded.

Commissioned by CarParcUSA after they acquired the car and assessed it as an ideal, essentially rust-free restoration candidate with all original panels and floors intact.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
