The Ferrari Dino 206 GT, chassis 00298, is a 1968 example of the rare aluminium-bodied first-generation Dino — one of only 154 built over two model years. Factory-delivered in December 1968, it passed through French and then American ownership before undergoing an exhaustive, multi-decade restoration that dismantled the car to its core frame tubes. The work involved noted Dino specialist Dennis McCann and respected Ferrari restorers the Kleeves Company and Terry Myr, and was completed to a standard described as surpassing original factory quality.

Maintenance & restoration
- 1985Engine rebuildDennis McCann
Work initiated by Dino specialist Dennis McCann, who overhauled the engine, gearbox, and transaxle as the opening phase of a comprehensive restoration.
McCann subsequently sold his business, so this phase concluded before the full restoration was complete.
- —RestorationKleeves Company / Terry Myr
Continuation of the full restoration by Ferrari specialists the Kleeves Company and Terry Myr in Michigan. The car was stripped to its three primary frame tubes, which were media-blasted and coated in epoxy. All aluminium outer panels were refitted to a tighter standard than the original factory build, with each panel painted individually on both surfaces. The suspension was fully rebuilt with new bushings, and correct engine cover finishes were established with the guidance of Luigi Chinetti Jr., who also assisted in sourcing a replacement wiring harness manufactured by the factory's original supplier. New old-stock components were used throughout where available; the headlamps were upgraded to brighter Carello units and a custom ANSA sport exhaust was fitted. Interior upholstery was renewed using new old-stock material sourced from the Netherlands.
Luigi Chinetti Jr. provided technical consultation on correct finishes and parts sourcing. The consignor described the scope of the project as extreme.
- —Inspection
Pre-sale inspection carried out by an RM Sotheby's specialist, who confirmed strong mechanical running and finished quality exceeding original factory standards.
Car recorded at approximately 250 miles driven since restoration completion at time of inspection.
