A comprehensive, ground-up restoration commenced in November 2016 and concluded in December 2018 at a reported expenditure of $440,000 USD. Every component was either restored or replaced using correct original-specification parts or custom-fabricated equivalents. The car was refinished in Ferrari Blue Sera with a matching canvas hood over a cognac leather interior.

A full invoice record documenting the work is said to accompany the car. The restoration was still in progress when the car appeared at summer 2018 concours events.

A restoration was commissioned by Sergio Franchi in the latter part of the 1980s; the scope is not detailed but it was a professional undertaking that remained incomplete at the time of his death in 1990.
