One of between 28 and 35 examples built, this 1968 Porsche 911 T/R is among Stuttgart's earliest 911-based homologation specials, delivered new to French privateer Claude Ballot-Léna via importer Sonauto for Group 3 GT racing. It competed at Montlhéry, the Rally Sud-Ouest, the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hours, and the Paris 1000 km before passing through a long chain of subsequent owners. A comprehensive restoration was carried out in 2014 in Reims, with the original engine replaced by a period-correct 906-specification unit.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. 2014Restoration
    Franco Lembo Automobilia

Full restoration carried out by Franco Lembo Automobilia in Reims following acquisition by a German collector. As the original 2-litre engine had been lost during the car's racing history, it was replaced with a 906 Carrera 6-specification Type 901/20 unit, which was the higher-performance engine option available on the T/R in period.

Restoration has been well maintained in the years since completion.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
