The 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Spider Competizione (chassis 15965), rebodied by Michelotti on behalf of Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team, stands as arguably the most historically significant of four such conversions. Unveiled at the 1975 Geneva Motor Show, it was prepared for Le Mans with a competition Group IV engine from a race-proven Daytona, though Chinetti's last-minute team withdrawal denied it a start. Subsequently entered at Daytona in 1978, it was again withdrawn under protest. Later campaigned extensively in European historic competition, the car has covered approximately 14,000 miles from new and remains in active use.
