1964 Porsche 904 GTS

904-062racingGermany
Engine
Six-cylinder twin-cam (currently fitted; original was a four-cam flat-four)

Porsche 904 GTS chassis 904-062, completed on 25 March 1964, is an early example of the landmark mid-engined fibreglass-bodied competition car whose lineage led directly to the 917. Delivered new to a French privateer in Marseille, it was actively campaigned in hillclimbs and rallies through 1965–66 before a frontal accident led to a series of ownership changes. A comprehensive restoration was carried out by Heinz Kurek between 1975 and 1979, after which the car passed through several further hands before entering the Petitjean collection in 1993, where it has been on static display since. Currently fitted with a six-cylinder engine, it is not in running condition and will require mechanical recommissioning.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
