1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Pinin Farina Spider (Series I)

Chassis 0448 MD is a rare first-series Pinin Farina Spider built as a 500 Mondial in October 1954 and believed to have left the Ferrari factory fitted with the larger 735 engine — a 2.9-litre twin-cam unit producing approximately 225 bhp. The twelfth of only thirteen such bodies, it was delivered new to Californian racing entrant Tony Parravano and competed successfully at Willow Springs in 1955 and 1956 before passing through Mexican and American private ownership across several decades.
