1935 Duesenberg Model J Long-Wheelbase Convertible Coupe with Rollston coachwork

2576roadUnited States
Engine
Supercharged straight-eight

A unique Duesenberg Model J (chassis 2556, engine J-550) bodied by New York coachbuilder Rollston in a one-off two-passenger convertible coupe design, the only such body ever constructed to this specification on the Model J. Originally fitted to supercharged SJ chassis J-527, the body was transferred to the present chassis in 1935. The car passed through the hands of notable early owner Isabel Townsend Pell, survived wartime France, and later underwent restoration in the J.B. Nethercutt shops, earning Best of Show honours at the CCCA's 10th Annual Meeting in 1962. It served as the basis for Monogram's widely sold model kit and has been prominently featured in multiple authoritative Duesenberg reference works.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
