Chassis 08431 is a factory-built Ferrari 275 GTB/6C completed in April 1966 and delivered through Luigi Chinetti Motors. Finished in Giallo Fly over Nero, it was specified from new with six Weber carburetors, long-nose coachwork, and a torque tube, representing the most potent road-going 275 GTB configuration. The car passed through a small number of American owners over five decades, won Best of Show at the 1973 Grosse Pointe concours, and retains its original engine, interior, tools, and what is believed to be largely factory paintwork — now showing approximately 21,000 miles.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Bodywork
    Steve Babinsky

Minor paint touch-ups to the area above the radiator opening and the top of the front clip, carried out after a previous owner's telescope damaged the nose.

Described as limited in scope; the remainder of the Giallo Fly finish is believed to be original factory paint.

  2. Restoration

Comprehensive refurbishment of all mechanical and structural systems undertaken by the current owner, encompassing an engine rebuild and upgrades to suspension and braking components to enhance both performance and safety.

Work carried out after the car passed from Wickstead to the current owner, circa late 1990s; original engine retained and rebuilt rather than replaced.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
