A 1963 Facel Vega Facel II, chassis HK2 A178, built as the 79th example of the model and originally ordered by Max Hoffman for the United States market. Delivered in Tudor Grey with matching leather and well-equipped from new, it later received a high-quality restoration and was refinished in medium blue over red leather. One of fewer than 182 produced, it spent time in a Palm Beach, Florida collection before passing to its present owner in 2011, where it has been on static display since.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Restoration

A comprehensive restoration of apparently high quality was carried out at an undetermined point, resulting in a colour change to medium blue bodywork over red leather interior. A modern alternator was fitted as a concession to improved reliability.

The original engine is no longer present; a 383 cubic inch V8 is currently installed in its place.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
