Colour
Gulf livery (light blue with orange accents)

A bespoke 'restomod' Porsche 911 built on a 1974 G-Series bodyshell by Berkshire-based specialist Rindt Vehicle Design, chosen because the commissioning owner was born that year. The shell was comprehensively restored and modified to 2.7 RS specification — including widened arches and a duck-tail spoiler — then finished in Gulf-inspired livery. Power comes from a rebuilt 3.2-litre engine with Jenvey fuel injection, mated to a Sportomatic gearbox. The car was featured in Classic Porsche magazine in August 2024 and exhibited at Salon Privé the same year.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Restoration
    Rindt Vehicle Design

Heavily deteriorated donor bodyshell acquired without engine or gearbox and subjected to a comprehensive rebuild: approximately four months of metalwork on a body jig, new metal where needed, and conversion to 2.7 RS specification including shortened and narrowed bodywork, flared wheel arches, and a duck-tail rear spoiler.

Replica Group 4 Campagnolo wheels finished in Gulf livery were fitted as part of the exterior build.

  2. Engine rebuild
    Rindt Vehicle Design

A 3.2-litre engine — replacing the original 2.7-litre unit — was rebuilt and equipped with a Jenvey Dynamics fuel injection system and a programmable engine management unit. The Sportomatic gearbox was also strengthened to cope with the higher power output.

  3. Modification
    Rindt Vehicle Design

Bespoke interior fitted, including electrically heated seats sourced from a Type 964, Kenwood touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and reversing camera, Classic Retrofit air conditioning, Gulf-inspired tartan fabric trim, MoMo Prototipo steering wheel, colour-stitched leather seats, custom seat belts, twin Smiths stopwatches, a leather-trimmed dashboard roll, and personalised owner-initialled dials. Front and rear parking sensors also installed.

Rindt branding was incorporated into the interior, exterior, and on a cooling fan blade.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
