Chassis 0628 is a 1956 Works Ferrari 860 Monza built on the Tipo 520 platform and originally campaigned by Scuderia Ferrari. Its race history spans three continents and includes a second-place finish at the 1956 Mille Miglia with Peter Collins and photographer Louis Klemantaski aboard, podium results at Buenos Aires and Sebring, and a celebrated Bahamas Speed Weeks victory driven by Stirling Moss in 1957. Passing through notable custodians including Luigi Chinetti and NART, the car later underwent a partial restoration before being shown at the 1984 Monterey Historics.

Following the final 1956 race, the car was returned to Maranello and fitted with a Tipo 136 290 S double-overhead-camshaft V-12 in preparation for the 1957 Buenos Aires race, replacing the original four-cylinder 860 Monza unit.
Evidence of the engine swap remained visible on the front lower chassis crossmember until the most recent Ferrari Classiche restoration.

Following accident damage at the Swedish Grand Prix, the car was returned to the factory and the nose was converted to the 250 Testa Rossa pontoon-fender style.
