Maintenance & restoration

  1. 1987
    Restoration

A restoration programme was initiated by Tony Krivanek as part of the sale agreement with buyer Larry Harvey, but the work was not completed before Harvey decided to resell the car.

Commenced around the time of the April 1987 sale to Harvey; scope and progress at handover unspecified.

  2. Modification

The original engine was removed and replaced with a different 8V unit bearing stamp BS099, sourced from the Siata-allocated 8V engine batch. The front bodywork was also reshaped to a more conventional appearance with rounded fenders incorporating integrated headlamps and an eggcrate-style grille. The aluminium coachwork was repainted from its original pale colour to red, the interior seating was retrimmed in matching red leather, and the original disc wheel covers were discarded to reveal the wire wheels underneath.

Alterations had occurred by the time the car was auctioned in May 1976; exact date and responsible party unknown.

  3. Restoration

The remaining restoration work was completed under Paul Forbes, with Italian car specialist Tony Nicosia overseeing the project and Steve Beckman undertaking bodywork corrections and a full refinish of the coachwork.

Work concluded before the 2002 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where the finished result was publicly recognised; exact completion year not specified.

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
