Chassis 0302 is the first production Dual-Ghia L 6.4 fastback coupe built, one of only 26 ever made and the second car after the original prototype. Hand-assembled in Italy around a custom chassis with a Chrysler 383 cubic-inch V-8 and priced at $13,500, it features unique instruments and factory air conditioning, and is among a small group of four to six cars customised by George Barris for members of the Rat Pack. Reputedly first owned by Peter Lawford, it has since been comprehensively restored to a bare-metal standard with Bentley-specification leather trim.

Maintenance & restoration

  1. Modification
    George Barris

George Barris customised the car along with a small group of similar L 6.4s destined for Rat Pack members, with changes including the fitting of Cibie headlights.

Believed to have been carried out at or around original delivery; between four and six cars received this treatment.

  2. Restoration

A thorough three-year bare-metal restoration was completed just prior to the auction listing. The body was stripped and refinished in black, and the interior was retrimmed in Bentley-specification leather.

Commissioned by the current owner following the 2006 acquisition; described as just completed at the time of cataloguing.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
