Maintenance & restoration
- —ModificationBroadspeed
Car was substantially reworked from standard specification: a bespoke box-section spaceframe chassis was fabricated, the bodyshell heavily modified to accept a large gearbox tunnel and revised suspension geometry, clearly engineered for serious circuit racing rather than road use.
Believed to be a genuine Broadspeed-developed build rather than a later amateur conversion.
- —Modification
Front suspension converted to Lotus-derived double wishbone configuration with adjustable coilovers and a shortened steering rack; disc brake conversion also fitted across the front axle.
- —ModificationEdmonton Tool & Engineering
Fiat 1600 Twin-Cam engine sourced from a 1968 124 Spider was installed, fitted with motorcycle carburettors and reported to produce around 175bhp; engine positioned low and rearward in the chassis for improved weight distribution. Paired with a Ford 2000E gearbox rebuilt with specialist internals.
Gearbox internals supplied by Edmonton Tool & Engineering, specialists in classic transmission work.
