2163 GTroadItaly
Engine
Tipo 168, outside-plug non-siamesed head; replacement unit originally from a 250 GT LWB California Spider Alloy Competizione, ~259 hp at 7,400 rpm with competition camshaft and 9.5:1 compression
Colour
Rosso chiaro (light red)

Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, chassis 2163 GT, is among the rarest of the type — approximately the 39th of 74 alloy-bodied Competizione examples produced — and retains its original rosso chiaro over nero specification from build in October 1960. Delivered in August 1961 to a Rome Ferrari dealer, it passed through Italian and then British ownership before a comprehensive restoration by Hall & Fowler Engineering in 1983. Later entered in multiple historic events across Europe, the car is distinguished by its high degree of chassis and body originality, having avoided serious racing damage during its period life.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
