Maintenance & restoration

  1. 1997
    Restoration

Comprehensive rebuild covering bodywork, mechanical components, and interior, carried out in Flanders. Work included reinstating the correct centre-lock wheels and returning the car to its original Ivory colour scheme while preserving as many original components as possible.

Restoration commenced around 1997 and completed in late 1998; final cost was approximately 700,000 Belgian francs, exceeding initial estimates.

  2. 2001Engine rebuild
    Christoph Tanner

The four-cam roller-bearing Carrera engine was dispatched to a Swiss Porsche 356 specialist for a full overhaul; original Solex carburettors were retained. The engine number had apparently been re-stamped prior to this work.

Invoice for 285,000 Belgian francs is on file. Engine carries the number recorded on the factory Kardex.

  3. Service

Regular servicing carried out periodically after 2011; no further engine overhaul has been considered necessary.

Are you the owner of this car?

This car's public record is built from its auction and competition history. Register your ownership and privately add your own records to make it a verified Legacy Metrics passport — provenance that backs your car's value at sale and gives your insurer evidence to price against. Roy reviews and verifies every registration personally.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.

“Full” and “partial” documentation labels indicate how well each entry is corroborated in the underlying sources, not an audit of the car’s physical paperwork. Names of recent or living owners are withheld for privacy.
