Porsche 908/03 chassis 003, constructed in January 1970 as a dedicated factory test vehicle, played a pivotal role in preparing the model for its triumphant 1970 season. It served as the primary pre-test car at the Targa Florio before being entered competitively at the Nürburgring 1000 KM, where Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood brought it home second overall under the Porsche Salzburg banner. After a period in factory hands for suspension development, the car was later rebuilt, granted an FIA Historical Technical Passport, and comprehensively restored in 2016 to its original pale yellow Nürburgring livery by RWS-Motorsport.
