A 1928 Mercedes-Benz 26/120/180 Type S four-passenger sports tourer with exceptional American provenance. Delivered new to entertainer Al Jolson by the New York distributor, it passed in 1947 to renowned industrial designer Brooks Stevens, who displayed it for over four decades and credited it as inspiration for the Excalibur. Possibly a prior gift to racing driver Rudolf Caracciola, it was exhibited at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2006 and 2011 and remains in well-maintained condition following a 1991 restoration.
