A 1965 Jaguar S-type converted in the early 1980s into a dedicated circuit-racing saloon for the Jaguar Drivers Club pre-1968 series by Ray Ingman and Dick Bradley, the car gained wider public recognition after a feature on the BBC children's programme Blue Peter, earning it the informal name 'Blue Peter Car'. Maintenance & restoration

    Restoration

    Car was comprehensively restored by the vendor in preparation for entry into the JEC Saloon Car Challenge.

  2. Modification

    Full conversion from road car to dedicated circuit-racing saloon, including installation of a competition-specification engine, race transmission, upgraded braking system, roll cage, and comprehensive lightening of the bodyshell.

    Work carried out by Ray Ingman and Dick Bradley in the early 1980s.

  3. Restoration

    Bodywork fully restored, with the car repainted in white and blue including the underside and boot interior. Carried out during the 1990s.

    Restoration undertaken by or during the tenure of the current vendor, who acquired the car in 1991.

    3.8-litre engine built around a tank-walled block with Cosworth racing pistons, Carrillo steel connecting rods, and a lightened, balanced, and hardened crankshaft with a Lichfield balanced flywheel and bespoke crankshaft damper. Cylinder head gas-flowed with high-lift cams and larger valves. Exhaust system purpose-made with tubular manifold. Carburettors balanced and tuned.

    Engine maintained by Sigma Engineering of Gillingham, Dorset.

    Northampton Radiators

    Bespoke aluminium radiator fitted by Northampton Radiators, with purpose-made swirl pot, aluminium pipes, and silicone hoses forming the cooling circuit.

    Differential and independent rear suspension assembly rebuilt by a transmission specialist to incorporate specialist competition components within a Jaguar IRS cage.

  7. Modification

    Suspension upgraded with 2000 lb front springs, Koni dampers, and a thicker front anti-roll bar; all rubber bushes replaced with phosphor-bronze or nylon items. Rear suspension fitted with stiffer springs, adjustable dampers, and additional purpose-made radial arms. Steering bump-steer removed via tuning of the steering system.
