1968 Austin Mini Cooper MkII 998

A 1968 Austin Mini Cooper MkII, built on 3 July 1968 and originally finished in white with a black roof, that was converted early in its life into a rally car styled after the mid-1960s works competitors. Prepared in Tartan Red with Old English White roof, the car carries period-correct equipment including Minilite wheels, twin fuel tanks, and a full roll-cage. It was actively rallied in the late 1980s and early 1990s, claiming an outright victory in the 1990 Cumbria Classic, and has since formed part of a private Mini collection.

Converted from standard road car to rally specification, including fitment of a full roll-cage, revised dashboard panel, Tartan Red and Old English White livery, Minilite wheels on extended arches, heavy-duty sump guard, Cooper S-style twin fuel tanks with quick-fillers, four Lucas auxiliary lights, roof-mounted spotlight, bonnet and boot straps, and hand-held fire extinguisher.
