Chassis 70227 is a Series II example of the BMW 507 roadster, one of only 252 built between 1956 and 1959 to a design by Albrecht Graf Goertz. Originally delivered to HRH Prince Constantine II of Greece and retaining its original Greek registration plates, the car passed to its current long-term owner in 1989, who commissioned a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration by Munich-based BMW specialist Brummer in the early 1990s. Since then it has accumulated around 55,000 kilometres across numerous prestigious historic events including four participations in the Mille Miglia.

    Brummer

Comprehensive nut-and-bolt rebuild carried out to the highest standard by Munich BMW V8 and 507 specialist Brummer, completed within a three-year window agreed at the outset. The bodywork colour was changed from dark silver to the period-correct shade 'Federweiss' (white), the interior was retrimmed in dark blue leather, and a matching soft-top was fitted. The engine was fully rebuilt and is estimated to produce 160 hp. The odometer was reset to zero upon completion.

The agreed cost was 300,000 DM. The car covered a short proving distance after completion before being declared ready. Work was commissioned by the current owner shortly after acquisition in 1989.

Each chassis record is compiled from public auction archives and links to its source material. Ownership, competition and maintenance entries are extracted from those catalogue listings by an LLM, which can make mistakes — please contact us with any corrections. The summary is Legacy Metrics’ own writing; we do not reproduce catalogue text.
